Time Out Markets are closing in Chicago and Boston

The digital media company that operated the once-pioneering food halls said traffic has been inconsistent in the post-pandemic era. After the closures, the only two Time Out Markets left in the U.S. will be in New York City.

Local Kitchens has shuttered more than half of its locations

Local Kitchens, the culinary collective and ghost kitchen concept, has shuttered approximately half of its locations in recent months, including its Los Angeles prototype that opened in June and closed less than five months later. The multi-brand restaurant now operates just six Northern California locations in Cupertino, Davis, Lafayette, Mill Valley, Redwood Shores, and San Bruno, down from 13 units at its peak.

The new "neighborhood" model features seven food vendors, a full-service bar and 240 seats in its Union Square locale close to New York University.

The owner of Budlong Southern Chicken and a dozen other brands is the new operator of Hayden Hall, a downtown food hall that closed during the pandemic.
