The food-and-golf concept is serious about growing its sport. But it also means business when it comes to the menu.

Five Iron Golf is an eatertainment franchise that is serious about growing the game of golf. Founded in New York City in 2017, its golf simulators feature games for all ages and skill levels, but it also appeals to seasoned golfers with swing evaluations, club fittings and lessons.

“Our whole goal from the beginning has been to be the best place for the serious golfer as well as the entertainment-type person,” said CEO and co-founder Jared Solomon.

That has helped make it more than an occasional destination for many customers and distinguishes it somewhat from other golf-themed dining concepts.

“Our league members and our repeat customers are literally eating at Five Iron probably more than they are at any other restaurant that they go to in the entire year,” Solomon said.

Five Iron is also serious about its food, which ranges from healthy options for the training-focused diner and bar food for those who are there just for fun. The chain makes its pizzas from scratch, and it’s working to source more fresh ingredients even as it grows.

Five Iron now has locations in 16 cities from coast to coast. It began franchising last year, which has added momentum to its growth, and recently announced multi-unit agreements in the Dallas-Fort Worth and St. Louis areas.

The chain is also expanding overseas and will soon open the largest indoor golf facility in the world, in Dubai.
