The family-dining chain continues to go beyond breakfast with flexible choices that span the dayparts.

IHOP introduced its latest menu refresh Monday, adding eight new items that build on the chain’s breakfast equity with flavors and platforms that go beyond the morning daypart.

Three new tacos go so far as to have the word “anytime” in their name.

Last summer, the Glendale, California family-dining chain launched Pancake Tacos, a limited-time offer of two sweet and two savory filled pancakes folded into a taco shape and served in a metal taco holder. For fall, VP of culinary Arthur Carl expanded on the novelty and success of that line with three new LTOs: Bacon, Egg & Cheese Anytime Tacos, Chicken Fajita Anytime Tacos and Spicy Shredded Beef Anytime Tacos. There’s also a new Big Breakfast Burrito.

“With over 70 percent of IHOP orders including a breakfast item across all dayparts, we really are looking at ways for our guests to enjoy breakfast any time of day,” said Carl. “Research and guest feedback guided the launch of our new menu, and you will see new options across categories like tacos, crepes, and steakburgers which are perfect for our guests to enjoy at all dayparts.”

Although the tacos and burritos are served on plates with cutlery in the restaurants, they can also be eaten as handhelds, making them a fit for off-premise orders.

Geared more for sit-down dining are three additional new items: Bacon Avocado Eggs Benedict, Chicken Florentine Crepes and Bacon Avocado Ranch Steakburger. The Ultimate Steakburgers and Benedicts are two new menu categories that Carl debuted in March, 2023, and while crepes are not entirely new at IHOP, the chain is now offering more savory flavor profiles suitable for lunch and dinner.

The Bottom Line: Full-service restaurant chains are winning, slightly, in a weak overall market. Brands are rethinking unit count, focusing on service and pushing a lot of value.
