Dave & Buster's is planning a sleepover party

The food-and-games chain intends to turn one of its stores into a bed and breakfast inn for one night. It's part of the brand's claim that it's the place to be at night.

Dave & Buster’s will host an invitation-only slumber party at its Miami unit next month, playing off the food and games concept’s new marketing claim of being the place to go for nighttime entertainment.

The store will be converted into what management describes as a pop-up bed-and-breakfast inn, the D&B B&B. The makeover involves building a bedroom suite inside one of the arcade’s meeting rooms.

The accommodations are reserved for the customer who submits the best 10-minute video explanation of why Dave & Buster’s is a great place to spend summer nights. The other sleepover invitees will be the winner’s friends.

The chain did not reveal how many people the video winner can invite.

For the night of the party, July 16, the revelers will have access to all of the facility's games. They’ll also have access to a bar manned by a Dave & Buster’s mixologist, and can order off the chain’s menu.

“The whole idea really speaks to our motto right now that 'Summer is Better in the Great Indoors,'” Dave & Buster’s CMO Brandon Coleman said in a statement. “Outdoors has extreme heat waves, murder hornets, and sharks. In fact, the outdoors kind of suck right now.”

Dave & Buster’s recently told investors that its events business is flagging. A considerable portion of the chain’s sales have come from corporate outings and other meetings-style bookings.
