David Gibbs to retire as CEO of Taco Bell owner Yum Brands

The longtime executive of the fast-food restaurant chain owner will retire in the first quarter of 2026. The company will start a search process for his successor.

Yum Brands, which also owns KFC, Pizza Hut and Habit Burger, said it is collaborating with the technology company to integrate AI into the chains’ restaurants.

The fast-food chicken chain is moving its corporate headquarters to Plano, Texas, and is telling all remote workers to relocate to the cities in which their work is based.

She will take over management of the chicken chain’s struggling domestic business in April following the retirement of Tarun Lal.

The fast-food chicken chain’s struggles in the U.S. continued last quarter. But the company says early results from the first location of its chicken tenders concept have been “encouraging.”

The 49-year-old, currently the president of Taco Bell North America and International, will succeed Sabir Sami, who will step down at the end of February.
