Acquisitions have made KBP Foods one of the largest and fastest-growing franchises in the restaurant business. But the key to absorbing the expansion has been a notion that harkens back to the earliest days of KFC.

The introduction a few weeks ago of Burger King’s mini-sandwiches was relatively low-key, perhaps a reflection of the limited-time options not being completely new.

The hot-chicken concept is adding a second location, replacing longtime Lexington, Ky., eatery Billy’s Bar-B-Que.

Nevermind better burgers. Chicken is ruling the roost for limited-service restaurants, as the latest round of limited-time items attests.

The online ordering company will be the delivery provider for KFC and Taco Bell in the U.S.
