Limited-service Mexican chains within the Top 500 increased sales by 8.5% to $18.5 billion, and full-service Mexican concepts grew sales by 1.8% to $2.3 billion.

The Mexican category overall saw sales increase by 0.9% to $18 billion and units by 4.1%, to 12,656.

The acquisition aims to boost growth of the polished-casual Mexican chain.
