Burger King will soon start selling an Addams Family Menu

The menu features “Wednesday’s Whopper” with a purple bun, Gomez’s Churro Fries and Morticia’s Kooky Chocolate Shake, all for Halloween.

Burger King’s new Whopper is purple.

Specifically, the “Wednesday’s Whopper” features a purple potato bun topped with black sesame seeds and Swiss cheese. It will be part of the company’s "The Adam’s Family Menu,” which will be available in the chain’s restaurants starting Thursday, Oct. 10, the company said on Monday.

The menu will feature three other items, all named for Addams Family characters. It includes Gomez’s Churro Fries, or fried churros coated in cinnamon sugar and paired with a chocolate dipping sauce.

There is also Morticia’s Kooky Chocolate Shake, made from soft serve mixed with chocolate cake batter fudge and topped with purple cookie pieces. And “Thing’s Rings,” a smaller version of the chain’s onion rings and named after the family’s ubiquitous one-handed helper.

Burger King in tests went through 20 different iterations to get the right color of purple in the bun before finally landing on a purple potato bun.

The Churro Fries, meanwhile, play into the chain’s eagerness to broaden the definition of fries to feature ingredients other than the potato, notably its Chicken Fries.

The Miami-based fast-food chain has long been willing to try out different iterations of its signature Whopper sandwich, and it is particularly aggressive during Halloween, which in the past has featured Whoppers with red buns or those flavored with ghost peppers.

“Halloween holds a special place in our brand’s history, and we know our guests look forward to seeing what delicious and kooky creations we come up with every year,” Pat O’Toole, chief marketing officer for Burger King North America, said in a statement.

Burger King will also be releasing a limited-edition line of King Jr. Meal toys inspired by characters from The Addams Family animated films. Those will be available in the U.S. and Canada starting Oct. 7.

Burger King is also offering members of its Royal Perks loyalty program various deals on The Addams Family menu, including $5 Wednesday’s Whopper every Monday.
