Digital sales become a bigger fixture at Yum Brands

The owner of Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and KFC now gets 40% of its sales through digital channels even as dine-in business has returned.

The owner of KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and Habit accelerated development in the third quarter and said it has a shot at breaking an industry record for new openings this year.

He will take over as head of the chicken chain on Jan. 1 for the retiring Tony Lowings. Dyke Shipp will become KFC president.

Yum Brands wants its concepts to grow individually, meaning it likely won’t expand the pizza chain’s delivery to its other concepts, at least for now.

KFC is shifting its advertising away from boneless chicken toward products where there are more “abundant” quantities.

The chicken chain plans to open hundreds of locations in urban centers as other concepts push for more drive-thrus.

The Australian company will give the owner of KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and Habit technology designed to automate kitchen flow and dispatch delivery drivers.
