Hat Creek began as an Austin, Texas, food truck in 2008 and has since expanded to 26 brick-and-mortar locations in the Lone Star State. Its fast-casual restaurants cater to families, with playgrounds for the kids and beer for the adults, along with a menu of burgers, fries and shakes. Some outlets also serve breakfast. The chain has expanded quickly since opening its first permanent location in 2011.
